Russell wins action-packed Australian GP from Antonelli
George Russell has claimed victory in the 2026 season-opening Australian Grand Prix, the Briton leading team mate Kimi Antonelli to secure a Mercedes 1-2 ahead of the Ferrari duo in an action-packed event that saw the Silver Arrows make a one-stop strategy work to their favour.
🏎️ The Australian Grand Prix was a very exciting Formula 1 race in Melbourne. Many fast cars raced around the track, and drivers tried their best to win the first race of the 2026 season.

🙌 He’s the last British man in the singles tournament and just won a big match to reach the round of sixteen.

🕊️ A sad thing happened: A famous football player named Diogo Jota, who played for Liverpool and Portugal, died in a car accident in Spain. His brother, who was also a footballer, passed away too.
🌹 Fans are showing love: People have been bringing flowers, shirts, and cards to Liverpool’s stadium to remember him and say goodbye.
⚽ He was a football star: Diogo played for big teams like Wolverhampton and Liverpool. He scored lots of goals and helped Liverpool win trophies!
